Instructions for Installing a Geodrinker
- Install the Geodrinker in a small drain field in the same trench as the water line.
- 50-100′ of 6″ perforated field tile is looped in the trench with the waterline. A small hole is cut at the bottom of one of the tiles and the waterline is brought up through it. Depending on the soil conditions, some washed stone can be put over the tile to increase the drain field service. Insulate the drain field and back fill the trench.
- At least 1″ of blue poly insulation board or one layer of foil bubble insulation should be installed under the slab. Trim both ends of the tile to length. For 5 ½” thick slab the water line tile should be trimmed 8″ above the insulation and the drain tile is trimmed 4″ above the insulation. This will allow warm air form the ground to circulate up from the higher tile as the cold air drops down the low end. This generates a tremendous amount of heat. The water line should be cut at the same height as the tile and a permanent shut off valve is installed with the supplied ½” male threaded barbed fitting.
- The Geodrinker is NOT supplied with concrete anchors. You must obtain these from an outside third party. The Geodrinker is supplied with the concrete edge insulation. First, we install the anchors. Then, with foil tape, tape the concrete edge insulation to the bottom edge of the insulation in the drinker base. Then set the Geodrinker over the tiles and trim the slab edge insulations so the pan is level. This can be done with a level or by pouring some water in the pan.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The Geodrinker is easy to maintain! To clean, simply empty the pan until you can lift it out. Brush the pan with the water running and reinstall. If the valve ever needs service, just disconnect the union and the entire pan assembly can be taken to the shop for repair.
All installations should be in compliance with all local, state, and federal building and plumbing codes.
